Even most pros aren’t constantly shredding, and would likely prefer quiet for much of the time they’re working. I get that they want the MacBook to run quiet, and 99% of the time, that’s what 99% of people want too. It’s clear Apple tunes the software not to run the fans at max speed when the CPU is performing a high-compute task like rendering or compiling, which is.frustrating. I haven’t used the i9 yet, but I’d guess performance would be much better with fans running at max. In other words, much of the issue is the fan curves Apple uses and can be mitigated (to one extent or another depending on the machine) through software. Did you try using smc fan control or some other fan control app? It’s been a while since I’ve had to do much high-compute work on a local machine, but even back in the 2010–2014 years when I was, smc fan control was essential to get proper performance out of a MacBook.
